You want to make sure that your new driveway is installed properly so you get many, many years of use from your new driveway.
- doesn't deteriorate
- properly grading to control runoff
- stands up to years of use
It's money coming out of your pocket. If you're looking to put a driveway in you want those dollars to be well-spent. That means having the job done right the first time and at a modest price.
Driveway Materials
There's more than one way to build a driveway, and each one takes a certain level of experience to do correctly:
- Gravel and crushed stone - the most common choice on rural Middle Tennessee properties. Economical, easy to repair, and it can be topped up rather than replaced.
- Asphalt - a smooth, sealed surface. Only as good as what's underneath it.
- Concrete - the longest-lasting and most expensive option, and the least forgiving of a poorly prepared base.
Whichever surface you choose, what's underneath decides how long it lasts. A properly prepared and compacted base is the difference between a driveway that holds up for years and one that develops ruts, soft spots and potholes in its first wet season.
Driveway Repair
A bad driveway repair is like throwing money away. If you patch the surface without finding out why it failed, you'll be patching the same spot again next year.
Since we're experienced site contractors, we can help you determine whether there are underlying causes that need to be taken care of so that the same damage doesn't happen again. Usually the answer involves water - a driveway that's holding water, or one that's collecting runoff from somewhere uphill, will keep breaking down no matter how many times the surface is repaired.
Driveway Clearing
Putting a new driveway through raw land is its own job. Whether you need to clear a driveway through a field or your driveway clearing goes through the woods, we can cut the route, remove the trees and stumps, and make sure the finished driveway has proper grading for proper drainage from the start.
If the driveway crosses a ditch or a drainage way, it will likely need a culvert. We install those too, so it can be handled as part of the same job instead of a second contractor and a second mobilization.
Putting in a driveway is not rocket science but you do have to know what you're doing and you do have to have the right equipment.
Just because a company has a couple pieces of equipment and can make the ground look flat doesn't mean that the driveway is installed correctly.
Adding a driveway to your property can make or break the appearance of the home or building it is serving.
Laying out the driveway and making sure that the grade runs away from your house is important. It's not good when it rains and the water is running towards your house and into your garage instead of running off your driveway and away from your house.
